Fluency is at the heart of the National Curriculum for mathematics. Children need to know key mathematical facts and methods to aid their reasoning and problem solving skills. Repetitive practice can support children with memorising these facts and becoming fluent in using them. First4Maths have worked with a selection of schools to develop sets of fluency grids to support children with the practice of key mathematical facts.
- The facts on each grid remains the same for a term but the number the children are given to work with changes each week.
- Teachers can select an appropriate number for their children to work with but are given a range to guide their choice. The children replace each star with the number of the week.
- Each year group has a different grid per term to work through.
